The full name of ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born in Porbandar of Gujarat, India on 2 October 1869. After passing the Matric Examination he went to England for higher studies. Gandhiji completed his legislation in England and came back to India in 1893. He began his profession as a lawyer.

The Social Life of Gandhiji began in South Africa. In South Africa, he confronted many hurdles. He found that the white men have been ill-treating the dark Indians there. He was tortured and insulted by the white usually. One day, he was touring in the first-class compartment of a train. He had booked a ticket for him. Nonetheless, he was evented and punished out of the compartment by the white men. Gandhiji fought against this unjust and cruel treatment. He noticed Satyagraha there and became profitable.

Gandhiji returned to India and took part in the freedom struggle. He was sent to jail many times. Now all the countrymen have been with him. He began the Non-co-operation in 1930 and the Stop India Movement in 1942. He became well-known as the ‘Father of Nation’. Lastly, India wins freedom on the fifteenth of August 1947.

Gandhi’s style of living was quite simple. He was a follower of ‘Simple living, high thinking. He taught us the lesson of ‘Ahimsa’. He eliminated the caste barrier in India. He was a reformer. He was shot lifeless by an Indian on his technique to attend a prayer on 30 January 1948. Mahatma Gandhi is remembered on this planet for his main virtues.

Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi, the father of the nation popularly generally known as Mahatma Gandhi or Bapu. He was born on 2nd October 1869. His father Karam Chand Gandhi was the Diwan and his mother Pulibai was a religious and pious woman.
At the age of seven, he went to school. After Matriculation and school studies, he went to England to study law. There he became a barrister and returned house. He began his practice in Bombay and then he went to Rajkot In one case he had to go to South Africa, the place he stayed for twenty-one years.
In 1915 he came back to India and joined congress. He launched his Satyagrah Movement against the British. Under his leadership, congress began the non-violence and non-cooperation movement to oppose the unjust acts of the British Authorities. He led the historic Dandi March and broke the salt legislation. In 1942 he began? Stop India? motion and compelled the British to leave India. Finally, attributable to his efforts, India received independence in August 1947. He led a quite simple life. It was from there he led this country to freedom. He worked for the upliftment of Harijans.
On the evening of the thirtieth of January 1948, Nathu Ram Godse fired three pictures at him at Birla Bhawan while he was holding his prayer meeting as usual. Thus the true servant of humanity left his footprints on the sands of time.
